To meet the demand of Audiologists and Speech Therapists, the SRM Institute of Science and Technology (formerly known as SRM University) have started BASLP course in 2007 in the SRM Medical College Hospital & Research Centre. Every year, the number of Audiologists going abroad is increasing. We started the course to meet the invisible challenge of helping the challenged. This is a four year professional course, including one year of compulsory internship. The annual intake is 25. The audiology and speech laboratories have latest equipment’s like BERA, OAE, ENG, voice recorders, and speech analyzing software. Ample clinical material is available and special program viz. New born screening, school screening, community education, industrial hearing conservation and vertigo evaluation are being conducted routinely. An additional facility is the SRM Rehabilitation and Empowerment Centre which functions in collaboration with the National institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Multiple Disabilities (NIEPMD).
Under the scholarship scheme almost 20 students will be awarded up to 50% merit based scholarship to pursue diploma to PhD programs at SRM Institutes of Science & Technology (SRMIST), Chennai, India. Scholarship will be awarded to early apply basis.
