SRM University signs Pact with Taiwan for Internships

SRM University and Taiwan Department of Investment Services, Ministry of Economic Affairs, Taiwan signed a MOU at a special function at SRM University on September 6, 2017. The MOU was signed by Prof Sethuraman, Registrar of SRM University and Mr Wang Jien Ping, Director General, Ministry of Economic Affairs, Taiwan.

The MOU will enable SRM University to access apprenticeships for its students in Taiwan companies in India and in Taiwan. 

Speaking on the occasion Prof. Sethuraman thanked the Taiwan delegation for its foresight in choosing to access apprenticeships in India, in particular, SRM University, which has a strong engineering capability. “SRM University offers 18 UG and over 60 PG programs in Engineering. 

The Director General of the Ministry of Economic Affairs Mr Wang Jien Ping spoke of the importance of India in the evolving partnership between the two countries. He complimented SRM University for embracing internationalism in every facet of the teacher-learning process. “We greatly look forward to the partnership with SRM University. We already have a Taiwan Education Centre at SRM University that is providing courses in Mandarin Chinese language. Through the Taiwan Education Centre and the new MOU that we have just signed, we hope to deepen our relationship with SRM University”, he said.

SRM has signed MOUs with 4 Universities and is in the process of signing 4 more partnerships. The existing partnerships are with: National Tsing Hua University, Tzu Chi University, Sister School Tzu Chi University, and National Taipei University of Technology. In the last few years over 35 students have been to Taiwan universities for courses and research internships as part of SRM’s Semester Abroad Program.
