SRM University Wins MIT Media Lab Hackathon

Three students from SRM University’s Next Tech Lab were part of the team that won the Best Healthcare/Medicine Hack at the Reality Virtually Hackathon, a Virtual and Augmented Reality innovation event organized by the MIT Media Lab in Boston, USA. The second edition of the hackathon brought together 212 participants from over 15 countries around the world to build a prototype.

Meenakshi Sivapriya (student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology), Rohan Pooniwala and Raghav Gupta (Interns at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School), Yujia Gama Liu (UX designer and VR generalist at Viacom.Inc), and Yan Liu (MDes Program at Graduate School of Design, Harvard), were awarded the Best Healthcare/Medicine Hack after pitching their hack to a judging panel consisting of industry veterans from sponsor companies like Microsoft and Facebook. The team walked away with a cash prize of $2000.

The trio belongs to the Pausch Lab at Next Tech, where they innovate on cutting edge technology in the fields of Human-Computer Interaction and Virtual/Augmented Reality. Next Tech Lab was founded by Anshuman Pandey and Aditthya Ramakrishnan upon their return from MIT after the Fall 2015 term. The lab has made its mark time and again with members presenting their research at prestigious conferences, winning some of the world’s largest hackathons and interning at elite research universities like MIT, Harvard among others.

Moreover, SRM University announced 35% Scholarship for the prospective candidates from SAARC Countries. Bangladeshi applicants are getting 35% scholarship as the member of SAARC Countries.
